Exhibitions on behalf of the HCWS 2026

During the 2026 season, HCWS will offer members participation in two Exhibits, a juried exhibit at The Jones House in Boone and a non juried exhibit at Florence Thomas Art School.

Exhibits are for artist to exhibit their work and to offer their work for sale if they wish.

Jones House Exhibit Information:

• Deliver artwork to The Jones House on Wednesday, July 1st, from 10:00am to 12 noon.
• Reception is Wednesday, July 8th, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm.
• Pick-up artwork on Monday, August 3rd, from 10:00am - 12 noon.
• Cathy Futral will serve as Juror. View Cathy's resume and artist bio below.
• Awards: There will be awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in watercolor paintings and also in other watermedia.
  • 1st place winners in each category will receive $75 and a ribbon.
  • 2nd place winners in each category will receive $50 and a ribbon.
  • 3rd place winners in each category will receive $35 and a ribbon.
  • Honorable mentions in each category will receive a ribbon.
  • HCWS will also award an overall Best in Show Award to receive $100 and a People's Choice Award to receive $75.

Florence Thomas Art School Exhibit Information:

• Exhibition dates: September 3rd-October 3rd, 2026
• Deliver artwork to Florence Thomas Art School on Tuesday, August 25th or Wednesday, August 26th, from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
• Reception is September 11, 2026 during the West Jefferson Gallery Crawl.
• Pick-up artwork on Monday, October 5th, or Tuesday, October 6th, from 10:00am - 3:00pm.

For the purpose of getting to know each other better and to learn from one another, members are invited to share work they have created at HCWS meetings. Bring paintings related to the announced monthly theme to get suggestions and comments offered by members present. 

Facebook: Watermedia Society of the High Country (Community page for member only) is also an opportunity to post and share work and events that members are participating in.
