HCWS Meetings

HCWS meets six months of the year, from May through October.   All meetings are held the second Saturday of the month at Cheap Joe's Art Stuff in Boone, NC. Please reserve 9:30am-12:00pm for meetings, live demos and stimulating art-related activity. Members can display any announcements they have on the Announcement Board in our meeting area for all attendees to see. Members can share their work during the meeting times.

Four optional fee-based workshops will be offered during the 2024 season.  

Two asynchronous virtual workshops will be offered. At their convenience, members can paint along to the pre-recorded workshops. Each workshop will be followed approximately two weeks later with a synchronous critique session held on Zoom. The virtual workshops and critique artists are:

• Ryan Fox - "Using Opaques on Purpose"
• Laurie Goldstein-Warren - "Painting Glass: Mini-Masterclass"

Two live workshops will be held at Cheap Joe's in the afternoon following morning meetings. The workshop artists are:

• Jeremy Sams - "How to Paint Atmosphere and Depth in an Acrylic Painting"
• Eddie Tallent - "Employing Techniques of Impressionism in Your Work"

We encourage our members to bring their paintings to the meetings and / or post their paintings on our Facebook Community page in order to share them with others. 

All monthly meetings will take place at Cheap Joe's Art Stuff in Boone.
